I was born in Australia to a mixed Australian and Singaporean family and now live and work in London. Growing up between cultures, my life has been shaped by movement, exchange and living across thresholds. Informed by this heritage and my recent experience of becoming a mother, I work with textiles, painting, sculpture and installation to weave together personal and collective histories, exploring my shifting experience of home and belonging. 

I make patchwork quilts, paintings on unstretched canvas, and sculptures that explore cultural and material hybridity. Histories are embedded in the materials and techniques I use, carrying memory and inherited knowledge. My quilts draw on my grandmother’s quilting practice and incorporate fragments of my clothing and postpartum bedsheets, honouring my experience of matrescence. My paintings use family photographic archives, concealing or cutting away the figures. Absence, rupture and repair create fractured surfaces that enact my experience of dislocation within mixed-race identity. My sculptures incorporate bronze and reclaimed Burmese teak, referencing public monuments and the legacies of British colonialism. Through casting, I preserve the imprints of significant objects, turning traces of cultural memory into material form, holding presence and absence in tension.

My work attends to histories that are precious, fragile, or often overlooked: lived experiences of migration and mixed-race identity, practices of mothering and caregiving, histories of textile craft, and the Dutch and British colonial spice trades in Southeast Asia. Singaporean Peranakan craft, particularly batik - with its fusion of Chinese, European and Malay influences - is a key reference, alongside the textile work of the women in my family. Underpinning my work is the belief that memory lives in bodies and materials, and that making is itself an act of care and cultural continuity.
